The myofibroblast secretome and its significance in gastric cancer

چکیده
I am a third year PhD student in the Department of Physiology, School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Liverpool. I am interested in myofibroblasts, an important mesenchymal cell type in the gastric microenvironment, and their role in the development of gastric adenocarcinoma. My research has focussed particularly on myofibroblast secreted proteins, the secretome, and the mechanisms by which changes in the secretome can influence cancer cell behaviour.

Mapping Proteolytic Processing in the Secretome of Gastric Cancer-Associated Myofibroblasts Reveals Activation of MMP-1, MMP-2, and MMP-3
Cancer progression involves changes in extracellular proteolysis, but the contribution of stromal cell secretomes to the cancer degradome remains uncertain. We have now defined the secretome of a specific stromal cell type, the myofibroblast, in gastric cancer and its modification by proteolysis. SILAC labeling and COFRADIC isolation of methionine containing peptides allowed us to quantify diff...
متن کاملStudy of cyp2E1 gene RsaI/PstI polymorphisms in patients with gastric cancer in north of Iran
Background: North of Iran is amongst high incidence rate areas of gastric carcinoma where environmental carcinogenic compounds especially agricultural pesticides are massively used. Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) enzyme metabolically activates a large number of low molecular mass xenobiotics. The polymorphic nature of cyp2E1 gene control elements is associated with interindividual differences...
متن کاملHuman Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stem cells-derived secretome could inhibit breast cancer growth in vitro and in vivo
Objective(s): Controversial results have been reported regarding the anti-tumor properties of extracellular vesicles derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The present study was conducted to evaluate whether secretome derived from Human Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stem cells (hWJMSCs) may stimulate or inhibit breast cancer growth in vitro and in vivo.<st...
متن کاملEstimating postoperative survival rate of gastric cancer patients and its effective factors in Babol, northern Iran: 2006-2011
Background: The importance of gastric cancer, considering its progressive course and high mortality is one of the reasons we pay attention to patients’ survival and the significance of this study was to estimate survival and determine the effective factors on patients with gastric cancer. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, all patients with gastric cancer who underwent surgery in ...
متن کاملAugmented expression levels of lncRNAs ecCEBPA and UCA1 in gastric cancer tissues and their clinical significance
Objective(s): As the second cause of cancer death, gastric cancer (GC) is one of the eminent dilemmas all over the world, therefore investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in this cancer is pivotal. Unrestricted proliferation is one of the characteristics of cancerous cells, which is due to deficiency in cell regulatory systems. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as critical re...
